Hi everyone....

Today our challenge is a bitter sweet one... today, FAVE THINGS is two years old, but it is also our very last challenge.... I have decided to 'close' down shop..... This was the hardest decision I have ever had to make. I can not even begin to thank EVERYONE involved in this challenge blog for the past two years, my past and present DT members, my Guest DT members, our sponsors, our players, Scrap Street Magazine for doing a feature article on us last year...everyone! :):):):):) Sadly though, life has gotten in the way. It has just become too hard for me to keep up the challenges and the demand of another blog.... I hope you all understand.....

I never dreamed that this blog would become what it has been. I have truly enjoyed seeing all that have played along.... I have been touched by everyone's take on our challenges... I only hoped that me and the DT members would inspire you all to scrap about your FAVE THINGS... and I hope that we have accomplished that.....I love you all that have played along with us for the past two years....

I am going to leave this blog live for everyone to still visit and get inspiration from though... I promise not to delete it :):):):):)

Love those letters...any size, shape, color, style...I gotta have them!! So speaking of alpha stickers...well that is what my favorite collection is all about. Like I said I'm an alpha junkie, so I took a pic of SOME of my alphas. I couldn't show you all of them or you would think I was out of my mind!!" hehehehehe...tooooo cute Stacy! :)

And Diana is sharing her son's FAVE COLLECTION...his hats!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this!! Here is what Diana says about her layout: "Nate loves to collect hats. And ever since he got a hat rack for his door, he's even more aware of his collection—rarely going a day without a hat on his head." :):):):):)

Michelle took this challenge and went in a different direction (which I LOVE!) ... here is what Michelle says about her layout: "I went a different direction for this challenge... and made my collection a wish... if I could, I would collect every giggle... every joyful chuckle... every belly filled laugh Rainee shares... because her laughter brightens every day... and fills every moment with such delight... The work represents the deforestation of our planet and was inspired by the Weeping Woman in Tofino, Canada. I found the weeping monkey and tiny animals in an old childrens book (back in the old days, when there were still enough woods.....)" :):):):):):):)

I made a mini book of our refrigerator. I love every piece of artwork and every sweet note... but keeping everything up on the fridge is impossible... so right before each new season as I'm taking down the old and putting up the new, I make sure to take a photo of the fridge with all her wonderful artwork. Hi everyone and Happy Memorial Day to those in the US :):):):):)

Today, before I announce our challenge, I want to take a moment and thank all of those that keep us safe on a daily basis. Thank you :)

And our challenge today is a blast from the past...or even the present if you choose! lol!! These are a Few of my Favorite Childhood Toys! Did you have a favorite toy growing up? Do you want to document your child's favorite toy right now?? Whatever it is... we want to see it :):):):):):)

Here is what Anne has to say about her layout: "My Mom took me to see the Mary Poppins movie when I was 6 or 7 years old, then bought me the record of the soundtrack. I sang every song and danced every dance from the movie every chance I had. That Christmas I was so thrilled when she gave me a Mary Poppins doll for Christmas. I treasured her."

Here is what Melissa says about her layout, "My Cabbage Patch Kids were my favorite toy(s) growing up. Unfortunately, my Mother never saved anything, so I don't have any of them anymore. If I recall correctly, this is what my very first one looked like. My Aunt Donna (RIP) actually got me one for Christmas the very first year that they came out. She stood in line for hours and ended up getting smacked over the head with a lady's purse because she grabbed the last one! I was the happiest girl alive that Christmas morning!!!!!"

This is my 5 year old DD showing her Grandma (my Step Mom) the page that she had colored in her new coloring book. Every time I look at this photo, I remember being this age and my own Grandmother doing similar things...and oh how I loved her dearly. All I think when I see this, is that I pray that God grants me enough time on this earth to become a Grandma myself some day. Hence, the title/journaling...

Jolanda says about her layout: "This photo was taken in the summer of 2004. We were camping and my daughter and her friend had sneaked out caus´ they didn´t want to shower and go to bed. Hanneke has this to say about her layout: "This year was Ricks first year in high school and it wasn't always easy for him!! He had to make new friends and really needed to get used to the long bike trip (about 45 minutes) and the new classes (like French, Mathematics, Deutch, ....) and how to learn at home! And now we only have 7 weeks to go until the end of the year! This photo (for me) shows how good he is doing and that he likes his new school and he ajusted so well!! As most of you know, blogger was having major issues yesterday, so my apologies to our May guest designer as I wanted to post her introduction yesterday, but couldn't... so, I am doing it today! :):):):):):):):):)

Anne Pennington is our May guest designer! I 'found' this girl a few months ago, and just have fallen in LOVE with her creations! Thanks Anne for being our GDT this month! :):):):) Here is what Anne has to say about herself:

"I grew up in a military family, with lots of opportunity to travel and live 
around Canada and Europe - but I love my life in a small village in Ontario, 
Canada where my kids have been free to roam and play or hang out with their 
friends. I am a mother of five great kids, two still at home and attending 
high school. I am a publisher and have been involved with print design and 
training for years. I believe in life-long learning, and I study part-time 
at Queen’s University. 
 
I have been scrapbooking for 3 years.  A couple of girlfriends from school 
days invited me to scrap with them for a week 3 years ago, and I told them I’d 
rather gouge my eyes out.  They bribed me with wine, and so I came out to 
visit. From that moment on I have been passionate about scrapbooking. 
 
I have met so many awesome new friends through my passions of scrapbooking 
and photography! My favourite scrapbooking subjects are my children and my 
beautiful mother, who passed away in 2009. 
These are a Few of my Favorite Things has been one of my favourite challenge 
blogs since I discovered it a few months back!!! Thanks for always

I just love to be crafty! Crafty time for me whether its making layouts, cards or a project is my therapy! I love taking photos and recording my families memories! I have been crafty my whole life but over the past 6 yrs I have hosted scrapbooking days and retreats locally and in the past year started my own blog, challenge blog and participated on several design teams.

I enjoy inspiring others to try something new! We all need inspiration from some place and I am constantly being inspired by all of the talented craft goddesses out there!

I think my style is all over the radar! I like to go with a different vibe depending on my photos – some layouts are pretty and fluffy, others grungy and rugged! I do have a weakness for using one photo per page but I am working on that.

Our GDT Annette's Fave Pastime is reading bed time stories to her daughter!! Here is what Annette has to say...."I just found a pile of the little Critter Books in my daughters room which she just found again.

We had so much fun reading those books to her that I just took a picture and made this LO so I will remember this special time forever!!" .... I loveeeeeeeeeee those books! I used to read those to my son when he was little and now I read them to my daughter too!! Now, first, I want to apologize that I didn't make something more for this challenge, but some that follow my personal blog, will know that I had my gall bladder taken out this past Wednesday the 9th of March, and sadly, I am still on the mend...aka... not feeling well at all :( So, I decided to make a card to show my Fave Pastimes...(I have two!)... one is my NEWEST Fave Pastime of making cards!! I really never thought I would be "good" at card making, if you would have asked me a year ago, I would have told you that I only BUY store cards! LOL! But lately, I have really gotten into it and I am loving it!! And my other Fave Pastime is taking photos!! I just got a new camera...and I have bought two books on how to work it and the different things I can do with it...and I am LOVING it!! Soooooooooo there you have it.. my Fave Pastimes is Card Making and Taking Photos! :):):) :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

What a FUN challenge we have today! "These are a Few of My Favorite Features!"... this can be taken in sooooooo many different ways!! Do you love your nose? Your eyebrows? Your hands? Your painted toenails? OR... is it something about your kid(s) that is your FAVE? Or what feature about your pet do you love? Whatever the feature is ... we wanna see it!!! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

I will let her explain...here is what Wendy says about her layout: "I wanted to do something different than the standard features I like about myself (which are not much). If someone asks me what I like about myself, I always answer: my eyes.
But I just not wanted to scrap that. I started thinking, and I came up with my hands. I couldn't live without creating. I HAVE to create at one point. Sometimes I can go for weeks without the energy of creating, but then.... oh my, there is an overflow of creating things. It's like they pop out of my hands without stopping :D"

Hi! I'm Nathalie, originally from France, I now live in the San Diego area where my husband and I are raising our two boys. What started simply as an intention to get photos out of shoeboxes has become a creative outlet (if not an obsession!) that I can't imagine not indulging in. I describe my style as mostly graphic and clean with a preference for bright colors but I like to try new things. I like to vary the size of my pages and scrap in 8.5X11 as much as in 12X12 and mix in a little 6X12. I also love to create mini albums, cards and occasionally can be found making fun paper projects for my home or as gifts. I am very excited to be your Guest designer for this month! First and foremost I want to THANK everyone that applied!! I seriously never thought I would have the turn out that I did.... it was SOOOOOOOOOOO hard to chose...I wanted EVERYONE!!!! .... Hi all....

So.... when I posted the DT call for FAVE THINGS... I thought I would give people an entire month to apply.... well.. .the problem is.... I am LEAVING for CHA the day the call ends... and if you have traveled to a hotel and tried to use WI-FI on your laptop, then you know it is SLOW and not always EASY to access... sooooooooo with that being said... I have decided to close the DT CALL earlier than the 27th of this month.... we have had sooooo many amazing applications for this call, it is going to be HARD for me to decide...wow wow wow... you have all knocked my socks off!!! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Hi all...

Within in this past month, I have found out that Stephanie's (the owner of Bella Blvd.) Brother-in-Law was killed in an accident and Dolores's (a bloggy friend) best friend is fighting breast cancer on a very limited income being a teacher....and BOTH ladies (Dolores and Stephanie) have asked for Thank You cards to be sent to them to have on hand for the many, many, many people that are assisting them in their time of need. Soooooooooo we at FAVE THINGS came up with the idea to help them and make it a challenge to all of you to help out too.... OUR CHALLENGE is ... make a THANK YOU CARD using your FAVE FALL COLORS and send it to one or both of these women in need if you decide to make more than one card!!!! :):):):):):):):):):):):):)

My name is Patricia Dias. I live in Curitiba / Brazil, with my husband and my two gorgeous kids, João Pedro age 6 and Ana Beatriz age 4. They are my inspiration. I discovered scrapbooking in 2005. Hi all... I said the other day I wanted to share something FUN I was doing last night...welllllllllllllllllllllllll... I was off to my local movie theater to see the 45th Anniversary showing of the "Sound of Music!!!"... IT WAS AMAZING to see it on the big screen!! I just LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE that movie!! (And if you have your speakers on ... you will hear the BEAUTIFUL Julie Andrews singing us my blog title theme song right now!!).... AND LAST night's movie was a SING ALONG!!
